The Halo Wars 2 base game is required to play the expansion. The Awakening the Nightmare DLC Expansion is not included in the Season Pass. You’ll have to strategize to survive, especially if you want to make it to the top of the leaderboards. Terminus Firefight allows for you and up to two other players to defend your base against deadly waves of Banished, UNSC, and Flood units including new boss units. This Expansion includes a new single player and co-op campaign with ultra-realistic cinematics, two new multiplayer leaders to use in Blitz and traditional multiplayer, and a brand-new tower defense firefight mode called Terminus Firefight. Following the events of Halo Wars 2, now you can play as the legendary Banished and lead Pavium and Voridus in a fight for survival against an ancient enemy – the Flood. Now, all we have to do it wait and see what terrors these creatures bring us.Awakening the Nightmare is an entirely new chapter in the Halo Wars universe. While it certainly wouldn’t have stolen the shown, having an expansion for a rather beloved RTS could have helped them keep the moment going for current game releases. What’s curious is why Microsoft would omit this announcement during their E3 press conference, as it’s one of their few exclusives currently out. There is also no definitive date set for Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare, as it’s simply slated for sometime in the fall this year. We do know that new leaders and units will be introduced, however, information is currently limited on this front.
Sadly, it doesn’t seem like you can directly control the Flood army which is a bit disappointing given how much fun it would be to infect your opponents. Given their noticeable absence in recent Halo titles, this is a welcome return for fans of the series. It’s because of these creatures the Halo Rings were created, as the Flood have always been seen as the most dangerous life form in existence. These parasitic species are able to infect and completely overtake a planet by converting the lifeforms into Flood variants.
